Relation between PAR and ETP

Postby rene » Thu Dec 04, 2014 9:01 am

Hello colleagues

has anyone ever come across a "quick and dirty" method to estimate PET (ET0) from satellite-based PAR? I am not looking for anything very scientific, just orders of magnitude or something that would be better than assuming constant PET.

Many thanks

Well, I have now done my homework I rediscovered what I was looking for among the large basket of simplified and "local" ETP methods. The anser is called "Makkink", one of the radiation-only based ETP methods that is - naturally - best suited for places where the aerodynamic term of the Penman-Monteith method can be considered relatively constant!
